Milan’s recent experience at XSM Systems includes revamping and managing the professional services organization of a traditional value-added reseller to move it towards a systems integrator profile and change the product to services sales revenue split from 90/10 to 60/40 within 1.5 years. In the process he was instrumental to developing new or re-defining existing service offerings and packages to increase service revenue. Milan re-engineered the business processes around personnel time and project tracking to ensure detailed resource planning and accurate customer billing. Milan was constantly in touch with clients to assist with project scoping, timeline and budget management and to ensure customer satisfaction.
 
As the Principal Business Continuity Practitioner at XSM Systems, Milan was directly engaged with numerous clients in various industry verticals:
 
With a large local Health Authority and under the sponsorship of Internal Audit, Milan delivered an Information Management Business Continuity Assessment and Gap Analysis. In the process a detailed Risk Assessment was prepared, IT processes and practices were observed and analyzed with a specific focus on capturing and documenting current business continuity maturity levels and capabilities. The observed risks, maturity levels and capabilities were then analyzed and compared against generally accepted best practices and the gaps were documented in a detailed report with specific corrective recommendations. The detailed Gap Analysis Report was abbreviated into an executive form and presented to the CEO, Board of Directors and Internal Audit Board. The report was well received and approved. The health authority is currently implementing elements of the recommendations.
 
With a large post-secondary educational organization, Milan was engaged by the office of the CIO to prepare an Information Systems Business Continuity Assessment and assist in developing appropriate continuity and recovery strategies for the IT organization. Milan liaised between the IT organization and lines of business to establish accurate recovery objectives and match them against the existing IT capabilities. After this, a high-level Business Continuity Program was developed for the CIO’s office. During the project the Business Continuity maturity of the organization was assessed and a related report was prepared and presented to the CIO. The project team also prepared a detailed Risk Assessment, Business Impact Analysis Report, documented RTO/RPO and recovery priorities in great detail, documented Business Process and Technology Dependencies, prepared and valuated Recovery Strategies and prepared Departmental Business Continuity and DRP plan templates.
 
Under the Investment Dealers Associations (IDA) mandate Milan was engaged with several local independent investment brokerages. Under strict deadlines and rigorous audit provisions he prepared and implemented corporate Business Continuity Plans that were later successfully audited and passed by IDA-appointed 3rd party auditors.
 
Typically, these engagements started by preparing a Business Continuity Program document for the CEO/CFO office outlining the mandate, responsibilities, timelines and high-level procedures. After this, Milan assessed Business Continuity maturity of the organization and presented related report, prepared Risk Assessments and Business Impact Analyses, documented RTO/RPO and recovery priorities, Business Process and Technology Dependencies, prepared and valuated Recovery Strategies, prepared Emergency and Command Centre Procedures, Departmental BCP, DRP. Upon the completion of the plans and procedures he assisted in the testing and exercising of the BCP, DRP and prepared corporate BC awareness and training programs. The final step was the 3rd party audit support and required corrections. All projects successfully passed the audit process.
