Interim Management & Leadership

For a large university, Neil provided leadership as Director of Infrastructure (Interim) for the IT organization. Responsible for approximately 80 staff and 50,000 users, Neil provided leadership and direction for the department, managed capital and operating budgets, coached and mentored management staff and drove the implementation of a shared network storage infrastructure.

For a large community college, Neil provided leadership as Director, Information & Computing Services (Interim). In addition to providing leadership and direction to the department, Neil managed capital and operating budgets, coached and mentored staff and drove the resolution of key infrastructure challenges through implementation of a private inter campus microwave network and a redundant SAN and virtual computing environment.

For the world’s largest methanol producer, Neil provided coaching and mentoring to senior IT staff and assumed the role of Manager, Application Support while the incumbent was away on medical leave. This role included stabilizing of a recent PeopleSoft implementation.

For a large energy company, Neil provided leadership and direction as Infrastructure Manager (Interim), Information Systems & Technology, responsible for 1,200 users and management of multiple outsource service provider relationships.

For a large national consumer paper products manufacturer, Neil provided leadership and direction as Director, IT. In addition to budget responsibility, Neil was responsible for Y2K readiness, ERP (SAP) post implementation management and outsourcer relationship management. In addition, Neil drove the implementation of new technologies including VOIP, VPN, video conferencing, and collaborative tools to support a virtual, distributed ERP development, implementation and support environment.

Outsourcing

For a large energy company, Neil assisted in the feasibility study, RFP preparation, due diligence and transition management of a multi-million dollar outsourcing arrangement of all IT infrastructure services for approximately 5,000 users.

For a large national consumer paper products manufacturer Neil successfully outsourced all tactical IT functions including infrastructure, network, EDI and software development and support. Neil was responsible for all aspects of the outsourcing from RFP through vendor selection and contract negotiation.

Project management

For a large university, Neil was responsible for over 40 IT Infrastructure projects in support of a new university campus.

For the world’s largest methanol producer, Neil assumed the Project Management role for a major Global Infrastructure Upgrade project currently underway. Neil also project managed the stabilization of a recent PeopleSoft implementation and the stabilization of a Global WAN implementation.

For a large energy company, Neil managed a number of major projects including consolidation of Field Services departmental servers into the outsource arrangement, stabilization and deployment of a Corporate Intranet to 5,000 employees across Canada, a national server consolidation and an Active Directory implementation involving migration of over 1,200 users.

For a large national consumer paper products manufacturer Neil managed a number of major projects including the restructuring of the IT organization, integration of a $130 million paper company acquisition from an IT perspective, Technical Lead for a national SAP ERP implementation, and support for the VP assigned as overall SAP project manager.
